Motema Pembe Land Berkane In Tough CAF Confederation Cup Draw

DR Congo giants Daring Club Motema Pembe have been drawn in a tough Group C of the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup during the draw held in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday.

In the draw conducted by Uganda legend Edgar Watson, Motema Pembe will travel to Morocco, Zambia and Benin to face their respective opponents.

Motema Pembe reached the group stage after they knocked Kenyan champions Gor Mahia in the playoff round.

The Green Army will face last season’s losing finalists RS Berkane of Morocco, Zambia’s Zanaco and Benin debutants ESAE.

The draw also resulted in a Western derby between Mali’s Djoliba and Guinea’s Horoya in Group B which also includes South Africa’s Bidvest Wits and Al Nasr of Libya.

Egyptian teams Al Masry and Pyramids were drawn in Group A alongside Mauritanian debutants Noadhibou and Nigeria’s Rangers.

Former African champions Enyimba of Nigeria are grouped with and Cote d’Ivoire’s San Pedro, Algeria’s Paradou and Morocco’s Hassania Agadir in Group D.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals, whose draw is slated for March 20.

Quarterfinalists will bag $350,000 and semi-finalists $450,000 while the winners are primed to take home US$1,250,000 and runners up US$630,000.
