Morocco Subdued at Home by Zambia

Recent matches have left Morocco with more questions than answers after Zambia added to their strings of losses on Sunday.

Recent matches have left Morocco with more questions than answers after Zambia added to their strings of losses on Sunday.

Mwape Musonda first raced Zambia into an early lead after only a minute ticked in the first-half to stun hosts Morocco who lost their previous friendly 1-0 to Gambia.

However, Hakim Ziyech of Ajax had them levelled in the 24th minute before Kings Kangwa again fired the visiting Chipolopolos from a Junior Fashion Sakala’s provider a minute from the hiatus.

Ziyech again came to the rescue of Morocco in the 55th minute to fire in an equaliser.

The encounter is meant to fine-tune the North Africans’ AFCON preparations but French gaffer Renard Herve certainly has an issue to sort out in his back line.

This was evident with Zambia’s third goal when Austria Salzburg’s Enock Mwepe stabbed an effort past Girona’s Moroccan net-minder Yassine Bounou in the 74th minute to make it 3-2 against the Atlas Lions.

Two defeats in a row despite being test matches will have the Rabat public sceptical in the lead up to their opening clash with Namibia June 23rd at the Al Salam Stadium in Egypt.
