Moroccan Midfielder Harit Extends Schalke Contract

Moroccan international Amine Harit has signed a new contract with German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 until the summer of 2024.

Moroccan international Amine Harit has signed a new contract with German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 until the summer of 2024.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who has made 63 appearances for the Royal Blues, joined Schalke in the summer of 2017.

Contract extension talks between him and the club have been on for some time and now a deal has been reached with the midfielder saying he is determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in him.

“I’m very grateful to the club and the management team for sticking by me in difficult times and for always believing in me,” Harit said.

Schalke head coach David Wagner said Harit is “one of the most talented Moroccan players of his generation”.

“Harit is one of many players between the age of 19 and 23 who have great potential and can be the club’s sporting future. I am delighted that he wants to be part of this group and continue his development with us,” Wagner added.

Harit, who has 10 caps for Morocco, has come of age this term after previously showing mere glimpses of his ability following a €10 million/£8 million transfer from Nantes two years ago.

Schalke currently sit fourth in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga standings and take on Eintracht Frankfurt in their next match of the league this Sunday.
