Mohamed Elneny Posts Update on Injury in Protective Boots

With the dreaded month of March around the corner, Arsenal’s injury curse seems to have hit hard again, this time in the heart of the London side’s midfield.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has posted a picture on social media showing his foot in a protective boot, which has caused concern among Arsenal fans that the defensive midfielder might be out for a longer period than previously anticipated.

The Egyptian international was substituted at half time in the 2-0 win over non-league side Sutton, a match that was played at the Gander Green Lane where a 3G artificial surface is used instead of grass.

Reports have ruled the 24-year-old out for at least three weeks, but the photo uploaded by the Egyptian on twitter shows he might be out for a bit longer. With Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazola out with various injury issues, Elneny’s injury has reduced Arsenal’s options in the middle in a period where every match is as important as a cup final.

This report limits Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s options to the versatile Granit Xhaka whose discipline has come under question over the season and make shift central midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain with a return leg against Bayern around the corner.
