AS Kigali have confirmed that the club has parted ways with Mike Mutebi, who has been the team’s head coach for this season.
The Ugandan manager left his job alongside his assistant Jackson Mayanja following a meeting with the club management on Saturday.
AS Kigali suffered a “disappointing’ 1-0 loss against Rayon Sports in their Rwanda National Football League game at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo on Saturday afternoon.
A visibly disappointed Mutebi was lost for words after the game but there were indications that he would be leaving his position as the team’s head coach.
“The players are lucking knowledge of the game, they are just running and doing nothing on the pitch,” Mutebi said.
“ I am not under any pressure of getting sacked or whatever may happen, this is part of our job, I am not worried at all.I am okay with it.”
On Monday, AS Kigali released a statement and confirmed that they have gone their separate ways with the Ugandan coach.
Mutebi has been with AS Kigali for the past three months and won three, drew seven and lost three matches.
The experienced gaffer had joined the Rwandan club months after leaving Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC where he won three Uganda Premier League titles, Two Uganda Cups, Four Super Caps and One CECAFA Club Championship trophy.
He is set to be replaced at the Kigali City sponsored outfit by former Bandari FC coach Andre Casa Mbungo.
