Martinez Espinoza Favorite For Highlanders Head Coach Role

Mexican Javier Martinez Espinoza has emerged as a shock candidate for the vacant coaching job at Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League side, Highlanders.

Bosso are currently under interim coach Joel Luphahla following Mandla Mpofu’s departure from the team nine days ago after a string of poor results.

Espinoza could join the team in June following the Premier Soccer League resumption with Luphahla set to be his assistant if he proves his worth in this weekend match against Kariba Power.

According to reports, Espinoza is among the four coaches shortlisted for the Highlanders post. The others are Briton Mark Harrison, Egyptian gaffer Mohamed Fathi and the Serbian Heric Vladislav.

“He is one of the candidates. Nothing is clear just yet but yes he could be the next Highlanders coach, a source from Bosso camp confided in DucorSports.

If appointed Espinoza will bring a wealth of experience having previously handled Nicaragua side Juventus Sports Club, and a couple of domestic clubs in his native Mexico, Rwandan side Rayon  as well as Ugandan side Vipers.

Previous Bosso coach Mpofu was fired together with backroom staff of assistant Coach Bekithemba Ndlovu, goal keepers coach Julius Ndlovu, Fitness trainer Nhachi Harold and welfare manager Vezigama Dlodlo.
