Ducor Sports gathered that the ill-fated incident occurred at in Kempton Park on Saturday evening, just hours after the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

It was later confirmed that one other person travelling with Madisha also passed away in the accident.

Madisha joined Sundowns in 2016 from Highlands Park and won three Absa Premiership titles with Pitso Mosimane between 2017 and 2020.

On the international scene, he made his debut for South Africa national team in 2015 and featured in both of their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome e Principe last month.

He won 12 caps in all, with his solitary goal coming against Botswana in the 2018 Cosafa Cup that was played in Polokwane.

Meanwhile, the South African Players Union have lamented the demise of the Sundowns player through their latest post on Twitter.

“RIP Motjeka Madisha, we are heart broken. The Masandawana defender passed away in a car accident in Johannesburg in the early hours of this morning. Our condolences to his family, friends and football fraternity,” the South African Football Players Union confirmed on Sunday.

His death comes just three weeks after that of another Sundowns player, Anele Ngcongca, who died under almost similar circumstances. Ngcongca died in a car crash on the N2 outside Mthunzini on Sunday, November 23.
