FC Porto’s Wantaway striker Moussa Marega and his Mali teammates were left disenchanted after their AFCON exit.

Mali’s Eagles endured a lone goal defeat to Ivory Coast in the last-16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Voted man-of-the-match, the 28-year-old, who’s being courted by the English Premier League’s West Ham and Tottenham Hotspurs, cut a forlorn figure at going in front of goal several times without scoring.

“We were the better side in the game. We could have gone to the break with a good lead but that’s a pity for us. We feel disappointed,” he said in the aftermath of today’s game.

The outcome of Monday’s clash means an end of the road for Mali who had an impressive group standing having topped pool E with seven points coming from two wins and a draw.

Of priority to Marega now will be his club future with his Portuguese employers demanding in excess of 20 million euros from his suitors.
