Malema, Njaliwa in as Mwase Names Squad for Burkina Faso

Malawi national team head coach Meck Mwase has called up 23 local-based players ahead of the upcoming Burkina Faso 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match.

Malawi national team head coach Meck Mwase has called up 23 local-based players ahead of the upcoming Burkina Faso 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match.

The camp has been scheduled to start on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at the Malawi Sun Hotel in Blantyre.

Moyale Barracks midfielder Lloyd Njaliwa is among the first time call-ups in the senior team, alongside CIVO Sporting’s Nixon Mwase as Silver Strikers forward Stain Dave makes a return into the team.

The coach will then name foreign-based players who will join the local-based players for residential training ahead of the back to back qualifiers.

The Flames will face Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou on November 12, before travelling back for the return match set for November 16.

MAFCO’s defender Paul Ndlovu has also been included alongside Nyasa Big Bullets forward Hassan Kajoke who missed the recent international friendly against Zimbabwe with an injury also getting the nod.

Malawi is in Group B of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers alongside Uganda, South Sudan and their next opponents Burkina Faso.

Uganda sit on top of the group with four points from two games alongside Burkina Faso while Malawi is third with three points.
