Liberian international goalkeeper Ashley Williams has agreed to join Real Balompédica Linense on a season-long loan from LISCR.

Liberian international goalkeeper Ashley Williams has agreed to join Real Balompédica Linense on a season-long loan from LISCR.

The Segunda División B outfit is reported to have paid a £450,000 loan fee for Williams, with another £150,000 due in bonuses depending on performance.

The custodian was previously rumoured to be heading to Sweden to join top tier side FC Linkoping City but the move fell through and has now landed to Spain.

“We’ve reached an agreement with Spanish third-tier club, Real Balompédica Linense for a season loan of Ashley Williams. Williams will spend the 2020-21 season with the Spanish club. We wish him all the very best as he embarks on his new journey,” reads a statement from his parent club, LISCR.

Sources privy to the club informed Ducor Sports that Balona will have the option to extend the Lone Stars custodian’s loan for an extra year next summer.

Williams made a name in African football having impressed everyone with his valiant show in the preliminary round of 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The youngster was part of Liberia squad that finished second in 2018 edition of U-20 West African football (WAFU) Nations Cup.

Williams joined the Shipping Boys from the club’s feeder team Gardnersville Football Club four years ago.
