Lille Admit they’re Helpless If Bucks are Thrown at €30m Nigeria Striker Victor

Lille’s hierarchy concedes that they would be rendered helpless if cash-loaded clubs come clamouring for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s services.

Lille’s hierarchy concede that they would be rendered helpless if cash-loaded clubs come clamouring for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s services.

Considered a work-in-progress about a season ago, the 21-year-old has morphed from crude to refined, making a rapid transition from Belgium’s Sporting Charleroi to one of the forwards leaving Ligue 1 defences in a heap.

With thirteen goals in twenty-three starts, the third joint top-scorer in his first season in the French Ligue 1 is showing no hints of slowing down.

It is reported that he is on the wish-lists of major European clubs with the giants of Spain arch-rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona thought to be the Super Eagles man’s preferred destination.

There have also been considerable overtures from teams in the English Premier League.

However, any deal being sanctioned hinges hugely on suitors willingness to match the former U-17 youth World Cup champion’s €30m valuation.

And appearing to clear the path for sides to tempt them, Lille president Gerard Lopez claim they would be powerless if six figures are thrown at Victor as salary.

“Osimhen will be at Lille next season. Afterwards, there are factors that I cannot control, such as the fact that a club arrives and offers a salary six or eight times higher than what we can offer.

“But I think that sometimes, it is better not to take a big salary and wait until next season,” Lopez said.
