Ligue 1’s Steve Mounie Interests Top Clubs

Ligue 1’s highest ranked African goal-getter Steve Mounie, is one of most sought after forwards in the transfer market. The Benin international is on the wish-list of a number of European clubs after he notched in fourteen goals for Montpellier in the league.

Seven-time title winners Olympique Lyon initially showed interest in the 22-year-old but talks of any deal being brokered have cooled over the last 24 hours amidst reports of Lyon agreeing to personal terms with Chelsea’s Bertrand Traore on a reported loan deal.

But there’s still interest from the English Premier League as promoted Huddersfield is also believed to be making overtures for The Squirrels’ attacker.

The Terriers must meet Montpellier’s €12m valuation of the want away African with fellow EPL outfit West Bromwich Albion, including German side Freiburg, all monitoring progress of negotiations.

OGC Nice is looking to build on to the success they had last season by bolstering their attack and club gaffer Lucian Favre has pinpointed Steve as a transfer target.

Mounie is unlikely to stay another 12-months with Montpellier after it is understood that Stade de la Masson outfit is resigned to the prospect of losing its prized asset before the start of the season.
