Libya on Standby as Tunisia Invites CAF Wrath for Exiting CHAN

Tunisia have invited furious stares from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) having opted out of the CHAN.

CHAN is the local version of the Africa Cup of Nations with a strict rule of only home-based players fielded for the national teams of qualified countries.

Tunisia had been scheduled to participate in the events beginning April to be hosted by Cameroon.

The Cartage Eagles slalomed over Libya to seal a passage to the group stage but have chosen not to attend claiming CAF’s decision to move the tournament’s date hampers its entire “football system calendar.”

Passing a communique regarding the issue, the Tunisian FA said they had “consulted” their domestic league clubs in respect to the change of date of the CHAN and found out it affected their football league calendar.

Ahmad Ahmad’s CAF are yet to react amid reports the North Africans could get punished for it in the form of monetary sanctions.

Libya stands to benefit by getting a way back into the championship.
