Liberia hope of qualifying for AFCON came to an end with a 4-1 defeat to Tunisia

Coming into today’s game, Liberia needed a win to qualify for her first nation cup since 2002.

Liberia had a sluggish start in the first half conceding an early goal in the first 5 minutes into the match with a goal from Khazri of Tunisia.  Another goal was added just before half time in the 35th minute by Khenissi; the first half ended 2-0 to Tunisia.

The second half started with a lot of pressure from Liberia, and the Lone Star pulled one back with a goal from Paye in the 71st minutes. Tunisia double the score 2 minutes after, with a goal from Khalifa in the 73rd minutes and a penalty was awarded to Tunisia in the 77th minutes. The penalty was converted by Lahmar given Tunisia a 4-1 advantage.

The game ended 4-1, with Tunisia emerging as group leader, and Liberia taking third place after Togo defeated Djibouti.
