LISCR FC goalkeeper Ashley Williams is all set for trials with Swedish top tier side FC Linkoping City, the Shipping Boys have confirmed.

Williams had been linked with a move to unnamed Austrian club but the deal fell through and has now landed in Sweden.

The 18-year-old obtained permission from the Monrovia giants and is set to leave the shores of Liberia on Monday to begin the two-week trial with City.

“Ashley Williams will tomorrow (Monday) depart Liberia for Sweden to have a trial with Swedish Division One club, @fclinkopingcity. We wish Williams the very best,” the club posted on their social media pages.

Williams has already made a name in African football having impressed everyone with his valiant show in the preliminary round of 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The youngster was part of Liberia squad that finished second in 2018 edition of U-20 West African football (WAFU) Nations Cup.

Williams has been a revelation at LISR since his move from the club’s feeder team Gardnersville Football Club four years ago.
