Liberia First Division: Mighty Barrolle Maintain Top Spot

Liberia’s First Division League, dubbed “Orange First Division” for sponsorship reasons, is two match days away from the halfway point of the league season, and it’s becoming more competitive.

At the moment, traditional club and record title holders Mighty Barrolle are looking to reclaim the championship for the first time since 2009.

With just one loss in 11 games and 26 points from wins, Mighty Barrolle, also referred to as “the rollers,” are presently leading the league table based on their eight goals difference.

After winning their first six home games, the Rolles have established Doris Williams Stadium in Grand Bassa County as the “slaughter” house.

Not only did they win all three points from those home matches, but they did so with considerable ease and large goal margins. Out of the 26 goals the “Rollers” have scored in the league thus far, 18 have come from home.

The weekend game was a testament to the team’s 100 percent home-winning run after a 4-1 victory over struggling side Cece United.

Nuch Zohn, 18, has been the team’s star player so far this season, recording 10 goals in 11 games. Zohn holds the record for the most goals scored (four goals) in a single game after scoring all four goals in his team’s 4-0 win against FC Kallon-Liberia on November 22, at the Doris Willaims Stadium.

Zohn and his teammate Clement Zubah currently lead the top scorers chat with 10 goals apiece.

Barrolle are level on points with reigning champions LISCR FC and are looking to maintain their impressive run in their quest to reclaim the championship.
