Lassina Traore Suffers Gruesome Leg Injury

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Lassina Traore was left with a shocking injury while playing in the UEFA Champions League Group D match against Inter Milan.

The 20-year-old Burkina Faso international had collided with one Inter players, before being stretchered off the pitch to receive treatment.

The match which was Donetsk’s second in the group ended in a goalless draw, leaving at the Ukranian side at the bottom of the group.

Traore will miss Burkina Faso’s 2022 World Cup Group A back-to-back qualifier against Djibouti as a result.

Donetsk coach Roberto De Zerbi hinted the player is set for a lengthy lay-off after an ugly challenge which  a section of media have confirmed left Traore with a broken bone.

“I think he was seriously injured. We do not know to what extent, but we will find it out the other day. I feel very sorry for him, because he is not only a strong footballer, but also just a person, a young and talented player,” Zerbi told the club website.

Traore joined Donetsk in June this year on a permanent deal after developing his game in Ajax Amsterdam.

In the 2020-21 campaign at Ajax, the Burkinabe striker scored eight goals in 18 matches in all competitions for the Sons of the Gods.
