Kelechi Iheanacho Nominated for the Confederation of African Football’s Most Promising Talent Award

Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been nominated for the Confederation of African Football’s Most Promising Talent award.

The Nigerian has played a much more prominent role with his national team and scored in four consecutive matches for the Super Eagles recently, and is rated as a key player already.

Iheanacho has made the most of limited opportunities when deputising for Sergio Aguero this season and has five goals in the campaign so far, including City’s equaliser against Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old is nominated alongside fellow countryman Oghenekaro Etebo, who was the 2015 winner of the award, Guinean Naby Keita of Bundesliga surprise package RB Leipzig, Meschack Elia of DR Congo and Stoke City’s Egyptian winger Ramadan Soby.

The awards ceremony is slated for January 5 in Abuja.
