Kaizer Chiefs Winger Philani Zulu Faces Uncertain Future

Kaizer Chiefs winger Philani Zulu’s future at Amakhosi is likely to be determined in the July period following failure to get game-time under his belt this campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs winger Philani Zulu’s future at Amakhosi is likely to be determined in the July period following failure to get game-time under his belt this campaign.

Zulu has not been able to break through the starting line-up, a clear show that he has fallen down the pecking order under coach Ernst Middendorp.

The 27-year-old joined the Naturena-based club from Chippa United in December 2016 and has only made three league matches this season before lockdown.

In fact, Zulu’s agent Saheed Adebayo has confessed that he is in the dark about the player’s future, with the club expected to undergo squad changes before the end of the season.

“At this point in time, I don’t know what is going to happen with Zulu at Chiefs since the league was suspended,” said Adebayo.

“Boby Matuang (Chief Football Manager) has not mentioned anything to me if the club will renew his contract. But I think things will become clearer when the season resumes.”

There has also been a report that Zulu is not happy at the club though he would like to remain at the setup and play as many matches as possible for the club.

Other players who are likely to leave and make way for new names to come include midfielder Joseph Molangoane and Siphelele Ntshangase.

Molangoane has stayed out with an injury for more than two seasons, which is just too long and a big ask, while Ntshangase has not made any single appearance.
