Kaizer Chiefs Make Shock Decision To Sack Coach Gavin Hunt

South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Kaizer Chiefs have announced the surprise sacking of head coach Gavin Hunt.

Hunt joined the club at the beginning of the 2020/2021 season and took them to the African Champions League semifinal for the first time in the club’s history.

It is a surprise development at the Amakhosi though the club has not been doing well in the Premier Soccer League as they have recorded only two win in their last 17 league games.

“Kaizer Chiefs have terminated coach Gavin Hunt’s contract with immediate effect,” the club statement read.

Stuart Baxter, who was in charge of the Glamour Boys from 2012 to 2015, is in the pole position to become the next manager, according to reliable sources.

Discussions with the former Bafana Bafana, Finland and England U-21 coach are at an advanced stage and it is now about trying to reach a total agreement between the parties.

Hunt oversaw 44 games in charge of the Soweto giants with a record of 12 wins, 17 draws and 15 defeats across all competitions.
