Kaba Diawara Awaits Decision Regarding His Guinea Contract

Guinea national team head coach Kaba Diawara has revealed his contract situation at Syli Nationale, saying talks are underway.

The former Arsenal star has spoken about his good relationship with normalization committee of the Guinea Football Federation but there are no guarantees.

Diawara was appointed as national team coach in December last year and was tasked to lead the West African nation in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The 45-year-old was in charge of four official matches and he hopes to continue with Syli adventure after they were eliminated by Gambia at the Round of 16.

“The ball is in the court of the authorities. In any case my wish is to continue as Guinea national team head coach,” said Diawara.

Diawara replaced Didier Six who was shown the door after failing to guide Guinea to reach this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

His team’s performance at AFCON left Guineans divided on his performance with many of pundits holding him responsible for poor performance.

On the other hand, a section of football officials at the normalization committee believe that he should be given time to build a winning team.

During his playing days, Diawara had spells with French clubs Paris St Germain, Bordeaux, Olympique Marseille and English Premiership sides Blackburn Rovers ,West Ham United and Arsenal.
