Jwaneng Galaxy Set To Name Kavazovic Head Coach

Serbian tactician Nikola Kavazovic is expected to be named head coach of Botswana Premier League giants Jwaneng Galaxy.

Serbian tactician Nikola Kavazovic is expected to be named head coach of Botswana Premier League giants Jwaneng Galaxy.

According to multiple reports on Sunday, Kavazovic agreed to take the job and will be introduced this week.

The Comets suffered a humiliating 1-0 defeat in the hands of Security Systems and fired head coach Miguel Da Costa Duarte last Sunday.

Kavazovic, the former Township Rollers coach, was a top candidate in the latest Botswana Premier League coaching cycle after surfacing as a popular name in 2019. He interviewed with Zebras before pulling his name from consideration then.

Kavazovic was recently in the books of Gaborone United during this football season where he was unceremoniously fired following, coincidentally, the loss against Jwaneng Galaxy, the team he is joining now.

During his stay at Township Rollers, Kavazovic guided the Mapalastina to the group stages of 2018 CAF Champions League. He was lauded for transforming The Blues into a very formidable team that conquered the entire country.

The 44-year-old tactician holds a UEFA ‘A’ license and is currently pursuing his UEFA Pro license. He has also coached both Zarkovo, Borac and Resnik youth and senior teams.

In 1998, Kavazovic graduated from Belgrade Sports University as the youngest football coach in SR Yugoslavia. He won the AFC President Cup with Istiqlol Dushanbe in 2012.

Galaxy are currently fifth on the league table with 38 points, just two points adrift log leaders Township Rollers.
