Joseph Okumu Agent Confirms Arsenal Interest In Gent Defender

Joseph Okumu’s agent has confirmed that English Premier League side Arsenal are trying to sign the KAA Gent defender this summer.

Okumu has been linked with a move away from the Belgian top-flight side though he still has three years remaining to the end of his contract.

The Kenyan international has impressed since his arrival at Gent and has also been on the radar of several clubs including Celtic and Borrusia Dortmund.

His agent Emeka Obasi of the Elite Project Group Ltd confirmed the interest of those clubs according to Niewsbald.be publication based in Belgium.

Okumu started his career at Kenyan Premier League side Chemelil Sugar after completing his high school education from Kakamega High School.

He remained at the sugar millers for only six months before venturing outside the country where he joined Free State Stars of South Africa.

He left for the USA and joined AFC Ann Arbor in 2018 before leaving for his former club Real Monarchs.

He was later snapped by IF Elfsborg in August 2019 and was instrumental in helping the club to qualify for the Europa League after finishing second in the Swedish Allsvenskan.
