Jaime Pacheco Returns For Second Spell As Zamalek Boss

Egyptian Premier League giants Zamalek have reunited with Portuguese manager Jaime Pacheco.

Egyptian Premier League giants Zamalek have reunited with Portuguese manager Jaime Pacheco.

The White Knights brought in Pacheco for his second spell after his exit from Saudi Arabia outfit, Al Shabab.

Zamalek chairman Mortada Monsour made the announcement via the club television bringing to an end a week-long search for a coach.

“Pacheco will sign a one-year contract,” Mansour said.

The Cairo giants have been linked with several managers including Gabriel Calderon and Hugo Broos.

The 62-year-old was sacked by Al-Shabab in April in the aftermath of the club’s unexpected 1-0 Asian Champions League loss against Sepahan.

In his first spell at Zamalek, Pacheco won nine games out of 12, drawing twice and losing once before quitting his position for the Saudi Arabia job.

The Paredes-born gaffer replaces Frenchman Patrice Carteron who quit the coaching job just a few weeks before the African Champions League semi-final clash against Morocco’s Raja Casablanca

Pacheco’s achievements include winning the Portuguese League in 2001 with Boavista and the Saudi Federation Cup with Al Shabab in his first season as manager.
