Sad scenes have played out once again as an Ivorian footballer lost his life after collapsing on a training ground in Burundi.

Jaber Khalil David, a 24-year-old footballer who turns for Burundian First Division side Kayanza United, collapsed on Friday after only 20 minutes on the pitch.

According to local media reports, a defibrillator was used on the pitch and Jaber was rushed to hospital as the training session was called off with other players in tears.

Those who accompanied the deceased to the hospital reported that he had a convulsion moments after arrival at an unnamed healthy facility.

The Ivorian international had a history of heart complications having previously collapsed during a friendly match while playing for ES Bingerville in Abidjan in March 2015.
