RC Lens have completed the signing of OGC Nice forward Ignatius Ganago for €6m on a four-year deal.

The Cameroon international scored 3 goals in Ligue 1 over the course of the 2019/20 campaign, having arrived at Les Aiglons in 2017.

Ganago, a product of EFCB Academy, made his debut for senior Cameroon national team in a friendly 0–0 tie with Tunisia on 12 October 2019.

“My football journey started at the training centre in Cameroon and after reaching 18 years I signed for OGC Nice where I played for three beautiful seasons,” the forward told the club website as translated from French.

“RC Lens contacted my agent because they were looking for someone who can fit in their style of play and I did not hesitate. I spoke with the coach Franck Haise and many things attracted me to this club. Lens is a family club because its followers are always close to the players. I will give everything for this club.”

After luring Gnago from Nice, the Blood and Gold are excited about their new acquisition, who was born in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon.

“Ignatius is a very good player. We strongly believe in his technical qualities. He is able to work for the team and has great potential. He will not only have to confirm all the good that is thought of him but also find his place in the first team,” said Lens head coach Franck Haise.

RC Lens earned promotion following the definitive stoppage of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons.
