Horoya AC is expected to make a decision on the future of coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa this week, Ducor Sports has been informed.

Following the HAC failure to make to the group stages of CAF Champions League after 5-4 defeat by Algerian side JS Kabylie at the weekend, the coach has come under immense scrutiny and his position at the club is said to now be in doubt.

Gomes does, however, still has twelve months remaining on his contract at HAC, having joined them in March last year to replace Frenchman, Patrice Neveu, but it is thought the club management is unhappy with the lack of progress the side has made since he took over the reins.

What has certainly made things worse is the embarrassment of having lost to Kabylie through penalties. Horoya had wasted a lot of open chances in normal time despite winning the match 2-0.

Their opponents were reduced to 10 men four minutes before the break when defender Badreddine Souyad received his marching orders.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the Algerians remained resolute till the 80th minute when Burkinabe veteran Aristide Bance gave Horoya the lead.

Heritier Makambo scored in added time to tie the aggregate score and force penalties as the decider. JS Kabylie scored all their kicks successfully, while Horoya missed their first kick to see the Algerians marching to the group stage.

Gomes would not be drawn into discussing his future immediately after the game on Sunday at Stade 28 Septembre, but did admit that both he and the club should talk about the way forward.

Ducor Sports understands that Gomes has submitted a 20-page report detailing his assessment of the team in the seven months he has been there and whatever else he has observed prior to his arrival.

Should Horoya decide to sack Gomes, then both parties would have to agree to a sizeable pay-out given the length of his contract as announced by the Conakry outfit when he arrived in March.
