Hamed, Faisal Overlooked As Pharaohs Provisional Squad For 2021 AFCON Is Named

Egypt national team head coach Carlos Queiroz on Sunday named his 40-man provisional squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals without midfielder Taker Hamed.

Hamed alongside mouha winger Hussein Faisal who was one of his key elements at the Arab Cup are some of the big names missing from the squad.

Other notable omissions include Ipswich Town skipper Sam Morsy, Karim Hafez of Yeni Malatyaspor, and Anorthosis Famagusta’s star Amr Warda.

Premier League players Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Trezeguet of Aston Villa and Mohamed Elneny of Arsenal have been included in the squad.

There are new faces in the squad like hazl El Mahalla defender Mohamed Fathalla and Smouha full back Ahmed “Beckham” Ramadan.

In all 32 of the 40 players are based in Egypt’s domestic league.

Egypt Football Federation (EFF) said all the players will report to preparatory camp on 27 December 2021.
