Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah will miss the 2019 African Cup of Nations after allegedly picking up a hip injury.

The attacker, who plies his trade in Saudi Arabia, was called into the squad by coach Harve Renard after a scintillating season with Al-Nasr were here scored a record breaking 34 goals in 30 games.

“Back and hip injury and the medical staff have decided he cannot complete the training camp nor play at the Nations Cup,” Morocco FA announced in a statement.

Other reports, however, indicate that the hot-tempered attacker walked out on the team due to a fallout between him and his teammates.

This was evident when he disagreed with Faycel Fajr over a penalty kick during a friendly match against Gambia on Wednesday.

Fajr took the ball from the attacker and took a penalty which he subsequently missed as Gambia registered a 1-0 win over the reigning CHAN champions. Hamdallah has since been replaced by Hassania d’Agadir defender Abdelkatim El -Baadi in the 23-man squad.
