Guinea midfielder Kevin Constant has announced his retirement from football after 11 years in the game.

The former AC Milan, Bologna and Genoa star won 24 international caps scoring four goals.

Constant, 32, began his career in the French Ligue 1 side Toulouse and spent his last season at Iranian outfit Tractor Sazi in 2018/2019.

“For personal reasons I have taken a decision to officially end my professional football career. This is the most difficult decision in my life and it is with much sadness that I say goodbye to the beautiful game,” Constant said in a statement.

Constant, who has been without a club since leaving Tractor last summer, added that he decided to retire from playing football to focus on the other important areas of his life, being his family.

I leave the football world to find simple life away from cameras. This is the reason why I also leave social media networks and I thank all of you for supporting me.”   [/perfectpullquote]

Having made his debut in October 2007, Constant’s finest moment in Syli Nationale shirt came when he scored his first goal in his country’s 1-0 win over Nigeria in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

After five years in the youth ranks at Toulouse, the Frejus-born midfielder joined Chateauroux before moving to Italian club Chievo on a loan deal.

In June 2011 he was able to sign a permanent deal at Chievo and a month later he was signed by Genoa for €5.6 million.

His career continued to rise when AC Milan signed him in 2012 and he joined Turkish Super League side Trabzonspor two years later before signing with Bologna in 2016.

In January 2019, Constant signed a three-and-half year contract with Tractor before his contract was terminated after he failed a medical test with the club.
