Ghanaian Ernest Asante’s Unstoppable Rise Earmarks a Possible National Team Call-up

Striker Ernest Kwabena Asante is slowly making his way up to earn a place in gaffer James Kwesi Appiah’s plans, in a possible maiden Black Stars’ call-up.

With a career spanning over 10 years, since 2005, Asante has not been considered for the national team by previous coaches who’d sat on the Black Stars’ managerial helm.

But the trend may just change following the 28-year-old’s brilliant form in the Danish Super Liga. He’s top scorer in the division as of Sunday, two goals ahead of Brondby’s 22-year-old talisman, Lasse Vigen Christensen.

Scoring two goals in Nordsjælland’s 4-1 humbling of Lyngby propelled him to the top on five goals.

Prior to Sunday’s victory at Lyngby’s Stadion watched by over two thousand spectators, Asante managed a goal in each of Nordsjælland’s last three games.

He struck the net five times in a combined 30 appearances last term but this campaign looks promising and Asante will only hope his profligacy the previous season, is behind him as he eyes a goal galore run.
