Coach Kwesi Appiah appears unwilling to risk Asamoah Gyan after dropping him for Ghana’s Kenya tie.

Coach Kwesi Appiah appears unwilling to risk Asamoah Gyan after dropping him for Ghana’s Kenya tie.

The striker will be a major absentee in a fixture that could determine who finishes at the top of the group.

The 33-year-old erstwhile Sunderland goal-getter played no more than thirty minutes for Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispor on Sunday in their defeat to Rizespor, having just returned from an injury.

Italy-born Caleb Ekuban, Emmanuel Boateng and Kwasi Appiah have been summoned and are expected to step up in the absence of Gyan along with captain Andre Ayew.

Also making the list is net-minder Felix Annan, Amos Frimpong and Kwame Bonsu all being home-based players from domestic premier league outfit Asante Kotoko.

Pride is only to fight for in this showdown billed for March 23rd with the Black Stars of Ghana out to revenge their last September narrow loss to the Harambee Stars of Kenya.
