Getafe Signs Togolese Defender

Spanish club Getafe has completed the signing of Togolese defender Djene Dakonam on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old joined the La Liga side after making 17 appearances for Sint-Truidense in the Belgian First Division A.

The move by the former Sint-Truidense defender marks his second, having played for Alcorcón in the Segunda División in Spain. Dakonam joined Alcorcón in 2014 on a trial and later joined the club as a permanent player in October of the same year.

Having earned over 30 caps for his national team, the young defender now has an opportunity to play in the Spanish top flight league for The Deep Blues who return to La Liga after they were relegated during the 2015-16 campaign.

Getafe defeated Tenerife 3-1 for a 3-2 aggregate in the play-off final in June to secure a return to La Liga next season.
