Furious Sundowns Coach Questions Criteria for Man-of-the-Match

The first match of the season saw Amakhosi ( Kaizer Chiefs)  take on defending Champions Masandawana (Mamelodi Sundowns). The tickets for the match were sold out a day before the actual game but the two sides however only settled for a point each after ninety minutes.

The drama however started after the match when Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane asked about who picked the man of the match and questioned the criteria used in determining it.

Mosimane asked SuperSport’s Robert Marawa.

However, when Mosimane was told that it was the commentators he just nodded his head and started walking away but when asked why he was asking he then asked Marawa who the man of the match was.

“Khama Biliat,” A surprised Marawa responded then Mosimane asked  “What did he do?” before finally walking off.

Back to the match, It was Chiefs who were first to strike after Ramahlwe  Mphahlele robbed a lacklustre Gaston Sirino of the ball and drove into the Sundowns box before firing into the bottom left-corner from 16-yards out to put Chiefs in the lead after just  8 minutes.

The lead however only lasted for sixteen minutes as The Brazilians were gifted a golden chance in the 24th minute to equalise when a clumsy challenge from Daniel Cardoso on Jeremey Brockie inside the box left the referee with no option but to point to the penalty spot.

Ricardo Nascimento stepped up and made no mistake  to level matters from the spot, 1-1. Neither team was able to score a second goal and hence it ended one all.
