Fouzi Lekjaa Unanimously Re-Elected As Morocco FA President

Fouzi Lekjaa has unanimously been re-elected as the President of Morocco Football Federation (FFRIM) during the body’s elective General  Assembly held on Friday at Mohamed VI Sports Complex in Casablanca.

Lekjaa, who also serves as Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, was elected after standing unopposed for a third term.

Eight other positions on the FFRIM Executive Committee were also filled today, with the elections the only item on today’s agenda.

Lekjaa has been FFRIM president since 2014 when he succeeded Al Fassi Firhi with a four-year mandate that was supposed to be renewed once.

Under his leadership, the national football team has become better organized, acquiring some of the best new infrastructures and improving existing ones, combined with a significant financial windfall.

However, some section of football fans label him as controversial as he once hit headlines for assaulting Ethiopian FIFA-listed Referee Bamelak Tessema after Moroccan side  RS Berkane lost to Zamalek of Egypt in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup final in Alexandria.

The 51-year-old football administrator is the 15th president in the history of the FRMF since its creation in 1955.
