FIFA President To Visit Lesotho

FIFA president Gianni Infantino will be visiting Lesotho on Tuesday, the Lesotho Football Association has announced.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino will be visiting Lesotho on Tuesday, the Lesotho Football Association has announced.

The one-day visit will see the FIFA boss call on Lesotho Prime Minister Tom Thabane at the Government Office complex in Maseru.

The gesture is aimed at strengthening ties between the world football governing body and the South African nation, according to sources at Lesotho football association.

“It is a great honour to our nation and the region at large to host FIFA President in Maseru. This visit shows that he has countless love for our country and LFA,” reads part of the statement.

Infantino will also visit the headquarters of Lesotho FA followed by a meeting with the Executive Committee and key stakeholders.

A press conference will round off the visit, local officials said.

The FIFA boss will then head to DR Congo for a two-day visit where he is scheduled to attend celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of TP Mazembe and to visit the club’s youth academy.

This will be his fifth visit in Africa since he took over the helm of the football authority on February 26, 2016.
