BREAKING: FC Nouadhibou Announce Amir Abdou As Their New Coach

Mauritania Ligue One giants FC Nouadhibou have announced Amir Abdou as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The accomplished tactician has replaced Cameroonian Mauril N’joya who was dismissed by the Orange Club several weeks ago.

As previously reported by Ducor Sports, the French-Comorian coach has joined the club with his own backroom staff.

Nouadhibou released the following statement on Saturday afternoon: “Amir Abdou has been appointed as the new head coach of FC Nouadhibou. The Franco- Comorian mentor will start his job immediately and his contract will see him take charge of Orange’s first team for the next two seasons.

“He will be assisted by the Franco-Tunisian Wissem Maaref who also signed a two-year contract with the Oranges. Holder of a UEFA (A) diploma currently being validated, Wissem Maaref has also been appointed as sports performance video analyst (FCF) coach and physical trainer.”

Hunt will meet the team for the first time next week when the squad returns to training in preparations for African Champions League preliminary round clash against Ghana’s Asante Kotoko.

The first leg of the fixture will be played at the Stade Cheikha Ould Boïdiya before the Mauritanians make the journey to Ghana for the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.

FC Nouadhibou is a professional Mauritanian club created in 1999 and based in Nouadhibou, the economic capital of Mauritania.

Nouadhibou is the current champion of the Mauritanian Ligue One championship and has won the title eight times in all. (2001, 2002, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019-20).

FC Nouadhibou has participated twice in the African Champions League (2003 and 2014) but they have never made it past the preliminary stage in their entire history.
