Ex-African Kings, Esperance Sportive de Tunis Coach’s Future Up in The Balance.

Coach Faouza Benzarti looks likely to walk out on former Kings of Africa, Esperance Sportive de Tunis despite topping the league. Benzarti has won the Tunisian Professional league twice the last two terms with Esperance. However, the latest fall-out with the fans could scupper his plans for a third title this campaign.

The former Libya national team gaffer was left incensed over club supporters’ violent reaction in the aftermath of last Saturday’s one-all draw with second-placed CS Sfaxien, at the Stade Olympique Rades.

As a result, the 68-year-old reportedly opted against leading ES Tunis in their 3 pm Wednesday encounter against third-from-bottom CO Medenine, prompting Mouine Chaabani and Majdi Troui, assistants to the coach, to lead on a temporary basis.

The claim has led to rife reports Faouza will quit the Sousse-based outfit, and adding fuel to the raging speculation, ES hasn’t bothered to repudiate the rumors.

Esperance still lead the table five points ahead of Sfaxien, collecting thirty-three points in thirteen games as they continue their unbeaten record of the season.
