Esperance du Tunis Chairman ‘orders’ for the Sidelining of ‘underperforming’ Players from its First Team

Chairman of Esperance du Tunis Hamdi Meddeb has ‘ordered’ the overlooking of two players from the first team he believes are ‘underperforming’.

Meddeb is strongly said to have placed orders asking gaffer Foauzi Benzerti to sideline Moez Ben Cherifia and Ben Youssef whom he believes are yet to show their true worth.

Consequently, Cherifia and Youssef have been pruned from the first team, making them major doubts for table-topping Esperance’s home fixture against Monastir this Saturday.

The pair is tied down to lucrative deals and Meddeb insists the stars’ performances should reflect the wages they’re on.

Striker, Taha Yassine Khenissie is the man single-handedly carrying the club on his shoulders scoring four times in four outings while Fakhreddine Ben Youssef has only a game to his name so far.

The exclusion of the duo shows the extent of Meddeb’s influence over the club’s selection process and the high-handedness with which he runs the show behind the scenes, according to reports from sources of Ducorsports.

Whether the forwards will be put on the market to pave way for new signings, remains to be seen.
