Esperance Coach Rues Missed Chances

Esperance de Tunis coach Radi Jaidi feels his men had Algerian side ES Setif on the ropes in their 0-0 draw on Saturday morning.

The two North African sides played the African Champions League quarterfinal match at the Stade du 5 Juillet in Algiers, but neither of them could find the back of the net.

The former Southampton U-23 manager is delighted with the way his team started the game but has faulted the attacking department for not finishing the chances created.

“It was a pleasant match between two teams who played very good football. We lacked offensive efficiency. The last touch made the difference,”Jaidi told CAFOnline.

Esperance had their chances to break the deadlock in the first half with Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane hitting the frame of the goal.

After not offering much going forward in the opening 45 minutes, the ES Setif had a chance to grab a winner through Abdelrahim Deghmoum who had his shot deflected for unfruitful corner.

The return leg match will be held in Tunisia next Friday, April 22nd  at the Stade Olympique de Rades.
