Esperança, Zamalek Share Spoils In Luanda

Sagrada Esperança drew 0-0 with Zamalek in the 2021/2022 CAF Champions League Group D match at Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola on Saturday afternoon.

Victoriano should have given Esperança the lead after just 10 minutes, the striker got beyond the Zanalek defence but managed to scoop his effort well wide of the mark with only the keeper to beat.

Razack Cisse came close to giving Zamalek the lead just before the halftime break, the White Knights winger did well to beat three defenders before blazing an effort over the crossbar.

Zamalek goalkeeper, Mohamed Abou Gabal, proved to be the busier of the two keepers in the second half , pulling off some fine saves to keep Esperança at bay.

Bonginkosi Dlamini should have given Esperança the lead in the 63rd minute, but the striker blasted over from six-yards out after another surging run from Gabal.

Leonardo Mutunda came to Esperanca’s  rescue in the 70th minute, the shot-stopper pulled off a fine save to keep out Achraf Bencharki’s long range effort.

Esperança pushed for a goal in the closing stages of the game, but could not bypass a stubborn Zamalek defence.
