Egypt’s Controversial Chairman: Sorcery was used to Block Us from Scoring

Mortada Mansour claims sorcery was used to prevent his club players from scoring.

A club chairman in Egypt’s Premier League claims sorcery was used to prevent his club players from scoring.

Mortada Mansour believes key figures at El Entang –a side in the league – used sorcery and his Zamalek players wouldn’t have scored even if they were to play for a hundred years.

A lawyer-cum politician, Mansour’s comment followed a recent profligacy gripping his players after they had gone for two games without scoring.

Their previous outing ended in yet another goalless draw much like the tie against fourth-placed Smouha as Zamalek slip to sixth in the standings but having played few games.

“Our opponents’ nets have been blocked due to sorcery that was used by Mamdouh Abbas [Zamalek’s ex-president], Hany Attal [Zamalek’s vice president] and Sayed Abdelhafiz [Al Ahly’s sporting director.

“This is not sports. Our players did their best but if they would’ve played for 100 years they would not have scored.
“The referee didn’t award us a penalty but we drew due to sorcery,” Mortada, a controversial man in the North African country’s game and is recently banned for three games by Egyptian FA, said.
