Hassan, 52 will fill the role vacated by Adel Abdel-Rahman, who was fired after only four games.

“Hossam Hassan is Smouha’s new coach, while his twin Ibrahim is the new football director,” the president of the Alexandria-based club, Farag Amer, said on Facebook, without disclosing further details.

The legendary forward is one of the most experienced head coaches in Egypt, having taken charge of Al Masry, Etisalat, Zamalek, Ismaily, Misr El-Makasa, Ittihad of Alexandria, and Pyramids.

Hassan has also the experience of coaching national team side, having led Jordan for one year between 2013-2014.

Smouha have endured a disappointing period of results this season.

They are currently are currently 12th in the Egyptian league table with 25 points from 23 matches, 27 points behind leaders Zamalek who still have two matches in hand.
