Egyptian International’s Transfer Loan Move Soiled by Sexual Harassment Allegations

In what has become a case of defamation, Egyptian winger Amr Warda has taken legal action against “false statements” made by a Portuguese magazine, Record, for stating that the new Clube Desportivo Feirense signing allegedly sexually harassed two of his teammates’ wives.

Warda sought the legal services of a Portuguese-based law firm in an attempt to sue those responsible for perpetuating the false rumors about him and apologized to fans and the club for the “ugly allegations.”

Record magazine said in a report, “Feirense players were upset with Warda because his behavior made the club board decide against allowing the players to training.”

The 23-year-old who transferred from Greek side PAOK on a one season loan deal strongly denied the allegations that also stated that the Portuguese club will terminate his contract only three days after his signing, and maintained his commitment to pursue his career in the Portuguese league.

Warda who rose up the ranks of Egypt’s football giants, Al Ahly, fell out of favor with PAOK and was dropped from the team’s squad for a game against Olimpik Donetsk in the Europa League qualifiers, primarily believed to be the reason for his loan move.

“New step, new challenge for one year on loan from POAK to Desportivo Feirense,” he announced via his Facebook page.

Warda’s agent, Mahmoud Eid is carrying out legal action and said, “We will sue Record for publishing fake news. It is inappropriate to speak about player’s privacy in that way, especially if he is an international player.”

Egypt’s national team manager confirmed an investigation into Warda’s case in an attempt to clarify the true nature of the incident.

Ihab Lehita told Egypt Today.

Warda featured for Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and is one of the 15 international players selected in the build-up against Uganda in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers
