Egypt Coach Hector Cuper Names 23-man Squad to Face Ghana in World Cup Qualifier

Egyptian Coach Hector Cuper has named a strong 23-man squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Ghana at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria on 13 November.

Cuper’s squad remains unchanged and he maintains faith in the team that beat Congo in Brazzaville last month.

The team features high profile names like Roma’s winger Mohamed Salah, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, Ahmed Elmohamady (Hull City) and Ramadan Sobhi (Stoke City).

The group were part of the initial 10-man list of foreign-based players announced by Cuper last month.

Veteran goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary of Wadi Degla is among 13 locally-based players called up to cover the Pharaoh’s goal keeping troubles against Ghana.

The Egyptians kicked off their tricky Group D campaign with a 2-1 win over Congo while their other opponents, the Black Stars were held to a goalless draw by Uganda. They are hoping to qualify for their first World Cup since 1990 and on the right path leading the group with three points.
