Twelve Africans nations have qualified for the Second Round of the ongoing FIBA World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers after three were knocked out in the First Round.

Twelve Africans nations have qualified for the Second Round of the ongoing FIBA World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers after three were knocked out in the First Round.

The 12 nations advanced to the Second Round after finishing in the top three positions in their respective groups of four.

Undefeated group winners Nigeria and Tunisia along with Cameroon, Angola, Morocco, Egypt, Chad, Senegal, Central African Republic (CAF), Rwanda, Cote d’Ivoire and Mali are the 12 nations that will compete for the five (5) berths allocated to the continent.

FIBA Africa champions, Nigeria finished top of Group B after winning all six games ahead of Rwanda, Mali and Uganda that finished bottom of the group with a single win out of six games.

Tunisia did same in Group A, The Eagles of Carthage maintained its unbeaten run in the group by defeating second placed Cameroon, third placed Chad and underdog Guinea that failed to secure a win in the First Round.

DR Congo was the loser in Group C where Angola finished top with four wins out of six games ahead of Egypt and Morocco.

In Group D, Senegal finished as group winner and progressed to the Second Round by defeating group runners-up, Cote d’Ivoire 66-61 in its final match in Dakar, Senegal and was later joined by Mali who defeated Uganda 95-80.

In the Second Round of the Qualifiers, the 12 qualified teams have been divided in two groups (E and F) of 6 teams each. The top two teams from groups E and F and the best third-placed team (a total of five (5) teams) will qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. The Second Round consists of three windows taking place in September and November 2018 and February 2019.

Group F

  1. Nigeria

  4. Rwanda
  5. Cote d’Ivoire
