DR Congo To Participate In CECAFA

DR Congo will participate in this year’s edition of the East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge which starts early December in Kampala, Uganda.

DR Congo will participate in this year’s edition of the East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge which starts early December in Kampala, Uganda.

The Leopards were handed the invite and will replace Rwanda who have withdrawn from the two-week tournament.

“We are happy to have DR Congo as guests,” CECAFA secretary general Nicholas Musonye told Ducor Sports.

“They have accepted our invitation and we expect a great tournament.”

DR Congo, who have been drawn in Group B to play Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia, are expected to hit camp on Saturday to prepare for the tournament that will start on 7 December.

Hosts Uganda will take on Burundi, Ethiopia and Eritrea in Group A while Kenya’s Harambee Stars, who are the defending champions, have been drawn alongside Tanzania, Djibouti and Zanzibar in Group C.

“The best two teams from each group and the best two losses will make it to the quarter-finals,” added Musonye.

The two-week event will end on 19 December with matches expected to be staged in Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru and Pecce Stadium in Gulu.

Group C: Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti, Zanzibar
