Doumbouya Flags off Syli Nationale Ahead Of AFCON

Guinea President Col Mamady Doumbouya on Monday challenged Syli Nationale to represent the country well as they prepare to take on other African giants in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations slatted for Cameroon in January.

The President spoke when he flagged off the team at Mohamed V Palace, Conakry ahead of continental showpiece set for January 9 to February 6.

While handing the national flag to the team, President Doumbouya told the players that the country expects nothing but the trophy.

“Bring back the Africa Cup of Nations or bring back the money that has been invested in you,” said the President as quoted by broadcaster RTG.

The team which left the country on Monday night, will be in Kigali the capital of Rwanda where they will pitch their training camp.

During their stay in Rwanda, Syli Nationale will play two friendlies with Rwanda national team before heading out to Yaoundé for the Afcon finals.

Guinea’s  first game in the competition will be against Malawi on January 11, before they take on the Lions of Teranga four days later.

The West Africans’ final Group B match will be against Zimbabwe on 18 January.
