El Hadji Ousseynou Diouf feels Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will go on to prove vital in this June’s Africa Cup of Nations.

El Hadji Ousseynou Diouf feels Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will go on to prove vital in this June’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt are billed to host this edition that will have a combined twenty-four teams participating – the first of its kind in the 62-year-old tournament.

Fans will be flocking at unprecedented levels and former Rangers FC winger Diouf believes this could count including the presence of Mohamed Salah.

“Egypt are the strongest candidates for me because they will play at home and have a lot of fans and they have very good players led by Mohamed Salah. He is a decisive player. Egypt are natural favorites, at least on paper,” the 38-year-old, who only retired in 2015, told Goal.com.

A two-time African Player of the Year and a legend to Senegal, the controversial erstwhile Sunderland striker, however, reckons Nigeria and Morocco are also capable of also clinching the coveted gong.

“I would put Senegal at the top because it is my country and I hope it will win the trophy. But Egypt will be at the forefront along with Nigeria and Morocco,” he said.
