Defour: “There’s no Striker Better than Mbokani in Belgium”

Former Porto midfielder Steven Defour believes no striker matches DR Congo’s Dieumerci Mbokani this minute in the Belgian league.

Mbokani is the third-highest scoring striker in Europe’s very best leagues behind only Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The all-time DR Congo goal-getter headlines the Belgian First Division A scoring charts, plundering in thirteen goals in seventeen outings ahead of St-Truident Ivory Coast’s Yannick Boli by four goals.

Questioned about the performances of his teammate, Steven has but only words of praises for the erstwhile Monaco marksman.

“I’ve never seen any better striker in Belgium than him and he has never scored this much in a season,” Defour says of a man Anderlecht tried signing without success the last term.

Mbokani is on a scoring spree aged 35 and is poised to grab the best player and golden boot awards. However, he has not been forthcoming over the reason for his dramatic revival but Defour hints it’s because he has been skipping some sessions to avoid training taking a toll on his body.

“He has kept his body intact. He also occasionally skip a workout. Sometimes you don’t see him before Wednesday,” he said laughing.
